Girls LEAD London

Girls LEAD LondonThe Girls LEAD (Leadership, Education, and Development) local camp is offered for girls entering grades three and four (Junior), grades five and six (Intermediate), or grades seven and eight (Senior). The camp curriculum and associated materials are based on the Ontario Curriculum, the Social Change Model of Leadership Development as well as child development theory. Many of our campers finish Girls LEAD camp feeling empowered, confident, connected, and able.

General Program Information

During the camp, girls are encouraged to cultivate their own interests and try new things. Each day we spend time doing a variety of activities. Campers will find their days to involve activities such as building healthy relationships, playing energetically, participating in sports and games, swimming, making crafts, creating music, examining leadership, reflective journaling, and introspective discussion.

Junior Camp: As girls enter grades three and four, they tend to assume more responsibility for their actions, become more self-aware and also begin to recognize the needs of others. In the Junior Girls LEAD camp we reinforce the belief that girls CAN! We also promote healthy self-awareness and the development of positive social skills.

Intermediate Camp: As the girls enter grades five and six, they tend to be improving their self-concept and acceptance of others, increasing their independence and becoming more focused on building relationships with others.  In the Intermediate Girls LEAD camp we focus on self-discovery, positive thinking and self esteem enhancement, developing healthy relationships and practicing our assertive communication skills.

Senior Camp: As the girls enter grades seven and eight, they tend to develop a growing sense of intuition and insight into self and others, they become increasingly more self reliant and they have a stronger desire to be like their peers and ‘fit in’.   In the Senior Girls LEAD camp, we work on exploring their interests, talents, and strengths, and help them to consider who they want to become!
